From Clearwater Lake to Campus: A Tradition of Competition

In 1928 the seminarians of Mundelein headed north for the summer to Clearwater Lake Wisconsin for a retreat at “The Villa.” While there, they held swim races in the lake and collected prize money to award to the winners just before commencement. This race elicited quite a fervent competitive spirit which we still see on campus to this day during the annual dodgeball tournament. Time moves on, but human nature stays remarkably stable!
