Flowers from the Holy Land, Jerusalem

If you take a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, you will likely find a book in the shops called Flowers from  the Holy Land, usually bound in olive wood. These books contain pressings of dried flowers designed into beautiful pictures and designs. The books also usually contain full color plates of scenes from the area.  Feehan Memorial Library’s example differs from the usual tourist books sold in that it has a cover of mother-of-pearl, one of only three still in existence of that kind. Our example was published in the mid-20th century, and is in remarkably good condition. If you would like to see it, just come into the library and speak to the Director, Samantha Seay.
