Hispanic Catholics and the Emergence of a Renewed Vision for U.S. Catholic Pastoral Life: Assessing Theologically the Legacy of the Fifth National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry


Hosffman Ospino, PhD is Professor of Theology and Religious Education at Boston College, Clough School of Theology and Ministry where he is also the Chair of the Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry. He is originally from Colombia, South America, and has conducted several national studies on Hispanic Catholicism. Presently he serves as principal investigator for the national initiative “Nuevo Momento: Leadership and Capacity Building for Ministerial Organizations Serving Hispanic Catholics” (2024-2028) and a co-principal investigator for “Haciendo Caminos: Theological Education for New Generations of U.S. Latino/a Catholics” (2023-2027). Dr. Ospino is the author and editor of more than 20 books and about 250 articles, academic and general. He is a Past-President of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States (ACHTUS) and is currently an officer of the Catholic Theological Society of America (CTSA). He is actively involved in ministry with his family in the Archdiocese of Boston.

Basketball Tournament

On February 14 and 15 the USML Lakers participated in the St. Francis de Sales Basketball Tournament. The Lakers took 3rd place out of 18 seminaries. 

Paluch Lecture

 

On February 12, 2026, Dr. Harold D. Horell, the Margaret and Chester Paluch Chair of Theology at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake (USML), delivered the Spring 2026 Paluch Lecture titled, The Declaration on Christian Education: A Key to Vatican II’s Future.
