Bringing the Best Theology to the Parish

Civitas Dei Foundation

Over fifty years ago, a group of like-minded pastors and teachers in the Archdiocese of Chicago came together with the desire to provide ongoing intellectual formation for those serving in parish ministry. The Civitas Dei Foundation was borne as a fruit of this collaboration, with the purpose of bridging the gap between the parish and the academy. The very first issue of Chicago Studies was published in the spring of 1962, right before the opening of the Second Vatican Council. Accordingly, the journal was founded with the vision of a Church placed at the service of all, open to new knowledge and creative forms of evangelization. Today Chicago Studies continues to bring the riches of high-quality theological reflection to bear on the concerns and questions encountered in parish leadership, ministry, and evangelization, as we strive to transform our lives and culture with the love of Christ.
