Dr. Schmisek is an award-winning author and published scholar. Some recent publications include: “Signs, Superstitions, and God’s Plan: The Human Quest for Meaning” Paulist Press, (2022); “The Rome of Peter and Paul” Pickwick (2017); “Ancient Faith for the Modern World: A Brief Introduction to the Apostles’ Creed” ACTA (2016); and “Resurrection of the Flesh or Resurrection from the Dead: Implications for Theology” Liturgical Press (2013) among others.

Dr. Schmisek came to USML as Provost in 2022, a position he accepted after serving as Provost and Dean of Faculties at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Prior to that he was Professor and Dean of the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago, and the Founding Dean of the School of Ministry at the University of Dallas.

He is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association and the Society of Biblical Literature.
