Leadership Announcement
Rev John Kartje, Ph.D., President/Rector of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, announced today that Brian Schmisek, Ph.D., Provost, will be taking on additional duties overseeing Development and Marketing. His new title, reflecting this role, will be Provost and Vice President for Development.
Brian not only brings strong academic expertise but also development and marketing experience to the role, having secured gifts for endowed professorships and named scholarships. He has been successful with grants, planned gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and more.
In this role Brian will ensure that development and marketing efforts are strategically aligned with the academic priorities of the entire university.
Dr. Schmisek said, “I am both humbled and encouraged to provide leadership in these areas. USML is unique in Catholic higher education. Its impact on the church in the United States is historic and is poised to become even more significant. Our alumni, benefactors, and donors make a substantial difference in the lives of so many and I look forward to enhancing those efforts as Provost and Vice President for Development.”
