University of Saint Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary host 35th annual Rector’s Classic

MUNDELEIN, Ill. — The University of Saint Mary of the Lake’s Mundelein Seminary hosted its 35th annual Rector’s Classic on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026.

The 35th Annual Rector’s Classic brought together community leaders, friends, and supporters of Mundelein Seminary for a memorable day of golf, fellowship, and philanthropy—all in support of the formation of future Catholic priests. The event also recognized Daniel Love with the 2026 Cardinal Joseph Bernardin In Service of One Another Catholic Humanitarian Award.

Festivities began at Pine Meadow Golf Club with a shotgun start, followed by a barbecue lunch, swag bags at registration, and a special gift for each golfer.

After a day of fellowship and golf, guests gathered on campus for a cocktail reception, auction, dinner, and the award presentation at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary.

Love was recognized for decades of service to the University of Saint Mary of the Lake and St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville.

Motivated by his conviction that without priests there is no Church, Dan has invested deeply in USML—serving on the Rector’s Classic Committee, the Celebration of Mundelein Committee, and currently as Chair of the Development Committee and Member of the Board of Advisors.

His contributions, along with those of volunteers and donors, help make the seminary’s mission possible.

The event underscored the need for community support to sustain programs such as seminarian scholarships, faith formation, and outreach to those in need.

The Rector’s Classic celebrates community and the mission of Mundelein Seminary. All proceeds benefit seminarians at Mundelein Seminary as they prepare to become compassionate leaders serving the Catholic Church and the world.
