Beloved Franciscan Sisters visited seminarians in 1935

In 1935, the University of Saint Mary of the Lake was instituted as a completely self-sufficient community. To that end, the refectory and Office of Worship were in the care of the Franciscan Sisters, who lived on our campus.

The Sisters were beloved by the seminarians who saw the fruits of their labor at every meal and Mass. Therefore, when two of the Sisters came to visit the young men during a lunar eclipse at their summer villa in Clearwater, Wisconsin, they received a very enthusiastic greeting, as seen in this Argus entry from July of 1935.
