Sister Miriam James Speaks at Seminary’s Spiritual Renewal Day

Posted on April 26, 2019

Sister Miriam JamesMundelein Seminary was blessed to welcome Sister Miriam James Heidland, Society of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT), to campus for the seminarians’ spring semester Spiritual Renewal Day. Sister Miriam spoke about her own conversion story as well as the four areas of a man’s life–son, brother, husband and father–as they relate to the priestly vocation.

“Vocations are a gift of self,” she said. “The holocaust of a man’s life poured out for others bears a beautiful aroma and transforms the Church.”

Sister Miriam is a former Division I athlete who had a radical conversion and joined SOLT in 1998. She holds a Master’s degree in Theology from the Augustine Institute and speaks regularly on the topics of conversion, authentic love, forgiveness, and healing.

The Spiritual Renewal Day began with Night Prayer and all-night Eucharistic Adoration, followed by Morning Prayer, the conference with Sister Miriam, reflection time and a closing Mass with Father John Kartje. Silence is maintained throughout these activities so the seminarians can fully enter into a prayerful experience.
