St. John the Apostle and Evangelist
When I was younger, I was greatly inspired by the example of my parish pastor. He was a great priest, and he taught us to put Jesus first. He taught us that the meaning of life is to know, love, and serve God in this life, so we can be with Him forever in heaven. This became very real to me when my grandma died (God rest her soul) before my junior year of high school. This got me thinking about the priesthood. I found about about St. Joseph College Seminary at Loyola University shortly after that, and decided to apply there after some time of prayer, discernment, and discussion with priests, family, and loved ones. Still confident in God’s call to the priesthood after 4 years there, I decided to enter Mundelein Seminary.
Being an instrument that God uses to save souls, in particular through celebrating Mass, hearing confessions, and helping people get to know Jesus and learn the Catholic faith.
