Vocation Story

I first felt God calling me to the priesthood back in grade school. I was inspired by the examples of my pastor and a Dominican Sister who served as one of my teachers. Both were wonderful examples of joy and evidence of how fulfilling a life spent serving Christ and His Church could be. The desire for the priesthood grew even more as I entered high school. While I had initially been worried about losing my relationship with God as I transitioned from a Catholic grade school to a public high school, the Lord used my time there to strengthen my faith and my love for His Church. I became close friends with several others who, despite not being Catholic themselves, cared greatly about their religious beliefs, and and we spent many hours discussing what we believed. The more I spoke with them, the more I desired to learn about my own faith. I spent more time researching and, even more importantly, praying in Eucharistic Adoration. I especially grew in my love for Christ’s presence in the Eucharist, and the more I discussed it with my friends, the more I desired to share this love and awe with others for the rest of my life. The Lord slowly nurtured this desire over the next few years until I was ready to apply for seminary. He has been so good to me, and I look forward to the coming years!
