Vocation Story

As an Administrative Assistant for the Gary Diocesan Cemeteries, I worked for a little over two years with a group of highly dedicated staff members, immersed in the day to day operations. The business of keeping the cemetery grounds & facilities kept nicely & the financial as well as the burial records correctly processed was an important priority for our staff. However, the main job as a Catholic Cemeterian is to bury the faithful departed in a dignified manner, while ministering to the needs of the loved ones who are left behind. I believe all honest work is pleasing to God and every single person has an important role to play.

After much prayer & discernment, as well as discussion with my Vocation Director, I recognized that my work at the cemetery may have been important preparation for a life of ministry in the Church. I decided Mundelein Seminary is the place God is calling me to discern a call to the Catholic priesthood, in order to fulfill the role He has planned for me.
