St. John the Baptist
Despite having had the idea of priesthood since being very young, it was not until late in high school that I began to consider it seriously. At first I ignored it and went to Iowa State University immediately after high school, majoring in Mathematics. However, I was really inspired by multiple priests in my life and their spirit of service to the faithful in their parishes. I realized that my own faith had been nourished by them and that without their service, I would not have had the blessing of knowing God. This realization helped to form a conviction in me of the importance of pointing and guiding others towards Christ. I joined seminary and began to seek to discern the priesthood so that I could share in the service of others in Christ which I had seen in so many of the priests which inspired me.
