Vocation Story

After entering the Catholic Church in 2011 a few friends asked me if I had thought about if God was calling me to the priesthood. I had been serving in a local protestant Church in Grand Rapids before I converted and also served in the Army, learning to minister to people in that setting. I took the step of getting in touch with the vocation director for Grand Rapids, Michigan and at the same time found a Spiritual Director that I would meet with each month. At each step along the way, I have had a deep sense of joy and peace in the formation process at seminary. St. Augustine had a large role in my conversion, as it was reading his Confessions that caused me to ask questions about the history of the Christian faith and the Catholic Church. So, as I remember his famous opening to the confessions about our “hearts being restless until they rest in You”, as I opened my heart to the call to the priesthood, I no longer find my heart restless about my call in life and my future.

Priest Aspirations

I am eager to call anyone God brings me in contact with into a deeper relationship with their God and Savior, Jesus Christ and to help Catholics grow in their faith!

What has been your favorite/most memorable story of your time at Mundelein thus far?

Having the chance to continue to serve and connect with the greater Catholic community on a mission trip to Peru, visits to local parishes, bringing relief to those in need through our volunteer opportunities, forming lasting friendships with seminarians from all over the world and being able to explore the faith more deeply in our classes.

How can Mundelein's donors and community pray for you?

Pray that any aspects of our lives as seminarians that does not draw people into deeper communion with Christ may be stripped away and that we may mature both in the faith and as witnesses for Christ and His Church. Also, pray for the spiritual battles we face in the seminary.
