Vocation Story

After working for newspapers in Texas and Florida, I first entered formation more than 15 years ago for the Diocese of Venice in Florida. Yearning for the community of religious life, I then began formation with the Congregation of Holy Cross at the University of Notre Dame. But I eventually discerned a call to married life and returned home to El Paso in Far West Texas. There, I resumed my journalism career (this time as a civilian journalist for the U.S. Army) while also volunteering for my diocese and local history organizations. Eventually, I felt the inescapable call back into formation, this time as a seminarian for the Diocese of El Paso. Today, I couldn’t be happier studying to become a priest of my hometown diocese, to one day serve the faithful of the Borderland.

Priest Aspirations

To bring the people of my diocese — and myself — closer to Christ.
