Vocation Story

My parents were excellent examples of living the faith genuinely while growing up. It wasn’t until my freshman year at Iowa State though that I strongly felt called to the priesthood. To help me discern, my parish priest encouraged me to pray “Lord I pray that I might be a good servant” before bed. The prayer challenged and changed me. I was afraid of celibacy though. I always imagined my life with a wife and a large family. I needed to rely on God to give me the strength and the desire to follow His call, if He truly was calling me. God how are you calling me to be a good servant? Throughout a year and a half of prayer and reflection God answered me. Jesus gave me a very powerful prayer experience one night where I saw all the joy that God had in store for me in the priesthood. Priesthood was joyful. Having a biological family would be wonderful, but in my particular life God has called me to be His priest. I’m very grateful for this call.

Priest Aspirations

I look forward to spiritual fatherhood. As a priest, the church is my family. I get to be a father for countless people sharing with them the Joy of the Gospel.

How can Mundelein's donors and community pray for you?

Pray that I will be a compassionate, kind, humble, gentle and patient priest (Col 3:12). Thank You!
