Vocation Story

I was raised a Catholic by my parents since the time I was born; they did this by praying before meals and at bedtime, bringing me to Mass every Sunday, and enrolling me in Religious Education at our home parish- Holy Trinity. It was during my college years at Central Michigan University that I learned substantially more about the faith and got very involved at the campus parish St. Mary’s. At this parish I made friends who were devoted Catholics. I attended and helped out with retreats, became an Altar Server and Lector, and participated in numerous other events. Through this learning and involvement, my faith itself grew to a point that in my final year of college I started to seriously consider a vocation to the priesthood. At the same time I was studying to be a high school history teacher and in the fall of 2015 I did my student teaching experience, which, although enjoyable, did not turn out the way I would have liked. Being that I had already been discerning a priestly vocation for a number of months at that point, I decided to apply for seminary in December 2015 soon after graduating from college. By May (2016) I was accepted and in August I started my formation as a priest at Mundelein Seminary.
