Looking back on my life, I suppose I had indications of a vocation from a young age. I remember as a kid having an appreciation for the Mass, and I even remember one time thinking about the priesthood quite seriously. Unfortunately often these good inspirations and aspirations get pushed to the background as one grows older and starts pursuing other interests. Such was the case for me as I became increasingly involved with music. Ultimately my interest in music lead me to pursue a music degree at DePaul university in Chicago. While in school there I often attended Mass at St. John Cantius parish which was a short commute from the campus. I also, at the request of my Aunt—who took her role of godmother very seriously—started spiritual direction with one of the priests there. As I began to take my spiritual life more seriously I also started to discern a call to the priesthood. After about two years of spiritual growth and direction I decided that I should pursue a vocation, and so I ended my time at DePaul and made a vocational visit to the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius. The visit was a very positive experience, and after some time for reflection and a visit to another community, I decided to join the summer of 2012. As I now undertake studies for the priesthood I pray that God will give me the grace to continue to grow in my relationship with him and prepare my heart to be a spiritual father to his people.
|How can Mundelein's donors and community pray for you?||
I ask for prayers for the formation staff that they would be guided by the Spirit in their guidance of the seminarians.
