Mass of the Holy Spirit

Posted on September 2, 2021

Twelve seminarians received the Rite of Admission during the Mass of the Holy Spirit on September 1, 2021. The principal celebrant and homilist was Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, the Archbishop of Chicago. The purpose of this rite is for the Church to accept the candidate and the candidate to make a greater commitment towards completing their formation. In some ways, this commitment could be compared to that made by future spouses when they joyfully become engaged to be married.

During the Rite of Admission, Father John Kartje called each of the Candidates. They rose, one-by-one. When all twelve were standing, Cardinal Cupich addressed them. Together, the candidates declared their resolve to complete their preparation for Holy Orders. The Cardinal responded, “The Church accepts your resolve with joy. May God who has begun the good work in you bring it to fulfillment.”

The 12 seminarians were:

Br. Quinn Huston
Br. Kevin Menard
Canons Regular of St. John Cantius/Archdiocese of Chicago

Jose Sandoval

Hung Le
Isaac Neppel
Timothy Weber
John Charles Yiga
Archdiocese of Dubuque

Lee Noel
Diocese of Cheyenne

Andre Klaes
Diocese of Grand Rapids

Thanh Ho
Diocese of San Jose

Daniel Sanchez Garcia

John Paul Tomassi

Following this rite, four new faculty members made an oath of fidelity. They approached the altar, placed their Bibles upon it and made a solemn Oath of Fidelity. These faculty members are Father Jacque Beltran, Father John Guthrie, Father Arturo Felix, OFM Conv., and Father Richard Halvorson.

Please keep our entire seminary community in your prayers as we embark on a new academic year.
