Institution of Reader – Year 1 Candidates

Posted on April 10, 2017

On April 2, 2017, Most Rev. George J. Rassas presided at the Rite of Institution into the Ministry of Reader.   Seventeen  IDS candidates were instituted.  During his homily, Bishop Rassas charged the candidates to be faithful in handing on the Word of God so that it may grow strong in the hearts of God’s people.  Besides proclaiming the Word of God, an Instituted Reader is responsible for Instructing children and adults in the faith; preparing them to receive the sacraments worthily; bringing the message of salvation to those who have not yet received it.  This responsibility of the proclaiming the Word of God is part of the continuing discernment process as the candidates move forward on their formation journey and listen to God’s plan for them.  The candidates were accompanied by their families, friends, and well-wishers.  There were exchanges of pleasantries before and after the mass which was followed by a light refreshment at the USML Conference Center.
