As COVID-19 has changed so much about the way we live in 2020, the Church has remained an essential source of hope, inspiration and support. Heroic priests across the country have answered the chaos of the pandemic with extraordinary creativity and resolve to continue serving as a bridge between Christ and his people.
Mundelein Seminary is collectively honoring these priests with our 2020 In Service of One Another Catholic Humanitarian Award, and we asked you to share the story of your parish priests. We were overwhelmed by the response! Parishioners from across the country submitted their heartfelt gratitude to more than 100 parish priests. Watch video interviews with four representative #HeroPriests to get their perspective on how they pivoted their priestly ministry with creativity, faith and compassion to meet their parishioners’ needs throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. At the 2020 Rector’s Classic Golf Outing, we presented the 2020 “In Service of One Another” Catholic Humanitarian Award collectively to all of the priests who responded as faithful shepherds to the chaos of the pandemic. Four priests from the Archdiocese of Chicago and alumni of Mundelein Seminary accepted the award on behalf of their brother priests. Watch remarks from Father Mark Augustine (Class of 2013), Father Sergio Rivas (Class of 2012) and Father Marty O’Donovan (Class of 1978) in the video player below. Please continue to pray for your priests and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood.
