Dr. William Murphy is the 2020-2021 Chester and Margaret Paluch Lecturer in Theology at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake. He is currently serving as professor at the Pontifical College Josephinum and editor of the Josephinum Journal of Theology.
About Dr. Murphy:
Dr. William F. (Bill) Murphy holds the S.T.D. from the John Paul Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, and an S.T.L. from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC. He has taught at the University of Notre Dame, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook, PA, and Ave Maria University in Naples, FL. Prior to his theological pursuits, Dr. Murphy earned an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware and worked in computer systems engineering and integration.
Numerous articles by Dr. Murphy have appeared in periodicals such as Angelicum, Communio: International Catholic Review, Studia Moralia, Logos: A Journal of Catholic Thought and Culture, Nova et Vetera, Pro Ecclesia: A Journal of Catholic and Evangelical Theology, and The National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly and Theological Studies.
He contributed to and edited a series of works in moral philosophy by Martin Rhonheimer, published by the Catholic University of America Press including: The Common Good of Constitutional Democracy, Vital Conflicts in Medical Ethics, The Ethics of Procreation and the Defense of Human Life, and The Perspective of the Acting Person.
Dr. Murphy is a member of the Society of Christian Ethics, the Catholic Biblical Association, and the Catholic Theological Society of America.
