Father Patrick O’Malley was a priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago for 56 years, passing away in 2013. Father O’Malley worked diligently and effectively to connect life with faith for the people of God. He had a great love for Scripture and wrote “Perspectives on the Scriptures” for the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Catholic New World newspaper for many years.
Through the generosity of the ACTA (Adult Catechetical Teaching Aids) Foundation, the second of three yearly conferences will take place on Saturday, October 22. The Father Patrick O’Malley “Perspectives on the Scriptures” Memorial Conference is designed for all people seeking a deeper relationship with Christ. It will be relevant for laity, deacons and priests. The focus of the 2016 conference will be on the Gospel of Matthew (Sunday Cycle A).
The speakers will be noted scripture scholars Dr. Elizabeth Nagel, Professor in the Department of Biblical Studies and Homiletics at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, and Father Donald Senior, C.P. President Emeritus, Chancellor, Professor of New Testament Studies at Catholic Theological Union.
The conference will be on the beautiful and sacred grounds of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. Please join us for this life-giving conference.
Gathering at Mundelein Seminary with people from all over to focus on scripture is something that Father O’Malley did frequently in his life. He loved to connect people to scripture and enhance their relationship with God, and this conference continues that mission of his life.
