David Lee Csicsko produced the black and white silkscreen series of 37 “Saints in the Garden” between 1990 and 1997. His study of the saints began as a personal project—a fascination with their suffering, inner struggles, and battles with temptation. As he continued to add to the series, not only did his artistic style and working methods evolve—so that the images of the saints stood witness to his own dedication as an artist—he became more spiritually engaged with his Catholic faith.
