“It Has Entirely Changed the Trajectory of the Way That I Serve as a Liturgist”
For Haley Henry, pursuing advanced formation in liturgy was about more than earning a degree—it was about becoming better equipped to serve the Church.

“This was the only school that had a degree program specifically for liturgy. Something I’ve been searching for, for some time.”
Already familiar with USML through seminarians from her diocese, Henry was drawn to the university’s reputation and mission. But her experience at SPLE has gone beyond what she expected.
Her experience at SPLE has shaped not only the way she ministers, but also the way she understands her own vocation.
“I’ve only been [at SPLE] for almost a year, but it has entirely changed the trajectory of the way that I serve as a liturgist and the things I implement into the community.”

For Henry, the formation she receives at SPLE reaches beyond her professional responsibilities and into her daily life.
“It really impacts you, not just because it’s your career, but how you live your life every day.”
Now, Henry is bringing what she learns back to the Diocese of San Bernardino, sharing insights with colleagues in the diocesan Office of Divine Worship and applying her formation directly to the life of her parish and diocese.
Her experience reflects the mission of SPLE: to inspire and equip lay leaders, deacons, priests, and religious through integrated human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation to serve and lead the Church together.
“I tell everybody that will listen” about her experience, Henry said. “I hope that by my going to the school, it helps open more doors for others.”
