A Unique Gift with a Meaningful History
Now on display in the Feehan Memorial Library, this one-of-a-kind American beaded buckskin chasuble carries a story of faith, service, and gratitude. It was originally presented to Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy by parishioners in appreciation of his ministry.
A 1958 graduate of Mundelein Seminary, Archbishop Murphy was appointed Bishop of Great Falls, Montana, in 1978, where he became widely respected for his deep commitment to immigrants and the poor. He later gifted the chasuble to Mundelein Seminary, where it now stands as a powerful symbol of pastoral love and cultural heritage.
