We invite you to join us on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, for Mass, lunch, and a preview of the newly-erected Francis Cardinal George, OMI Memorial Garden. The official dedication will be on Sunday, October 27; however, we wanted to give you the opportunity to visit first.
Dedicated to Cardinal George on behalf of all the priests he ordained, this garden was made possible thanks to the generosity of William H. McEssy.
You are welcome to concelebrate the community Mass at 11:15 a.m. in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception and have lunch in the dining hall, followed by a brief walking tour of the garden. Concelebrants, please bring your alb and stole.
Located south of the auditorium, the garden was created around the current Stations of the Cross, Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, and Pope Pius X statue. The bronze Joseph and Jesus statue, familiar to St. Joseph Seminary graduates, has found a new and permanent home near the entrance to the garden. Clear paths connect each of these features, accented with flowers, a less obstructed view of the lake, and newly-planted trees to provide shade as you pray and reflect. In addition, a large crucifix that was originally erected at Niles College will be installed adjacent to the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.
We hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you.
Mass begins at 11:15 a.m., please arrive by 11 a.m. to get vested in the basement of the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Concelebrants have a reserved section in the front few pews of the chapel. Faculty priests will lead you to the altar for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
