Nearly 70 alumni of Mundelein Seminary gathered at Pine Meadow Golf Course for the annual Alumni Golf Outing on July 7. It was a perfect, sunny day for golf full of laughs, camaraderie, and lots of old friends catching up. The event, held annually, is for parish priests and non-ordained alumni to reconnect with one another.
As in years past, the format was a scramble with awards given out to the golfer with the longest drive and closest to the pin in three age categories, and the team with the low score. Congratulations to the team made up of Frs. Jim Hyland (Class of ’81), Michael Novick (Class of ’01), and Mike Nacius (Class of ’89) for the lowest score award. After the golfing was complete, USML/Mundelein Seminary chancellor Cardinal Blase Cupich joined the participants for a reception.
We are grateful to the alumni who returned for this event, especially those who have joined us since the event’s inception in the 1990s. And many thanks to the Alumni Golf Committee for organizing another successful outing and to Fr. Jim Hyland who acted as MC and continues to live up to his moniker ‘Vicar of Golf.’
