Nearly 70 alumni of Mundelein Seminary gathered at Pine Meadow Golf Course adjacent to the seminary grounds for the annual Alumni Golf Outing on July 8.
The event is a yearly opportunity for parish priests and non-ordained alumni to reconnect with one another. There are few opportunities for alumni from various dioceses and graduation years to gather, and this year’s participants spanned the generations of seminary classes, with alumni from the early 1960s as well as a few members of the Class of 2020.
The golfers enjoyed perfect conditions for a round of scramble golf–65 degrees and cloudy–making it refreshingly cool for a day in early July. After the golfing was complete, participants were joined by USML/Mundelein Seminary chancellor Cardinal Blase Cupich and rector/president Father John Kartje for a reception at which awards were presented for best score, longest drive and closest to the pin.
We are grateful to all of the alumni who returned for this event, especially those who have joined us since the event’s inception in the 1990s.
